Graffiti in Iran

It is amazing how a country that I call home is changing. During my research paper, I saw some Graffiti works from Iranian Artists. Knowing that it is absolutely against Iranian Government’s many rules!!!, assumed that it never got on the walls inside the country and what I am finding is just the artworks of Iranian artists residing outside the country. These works got me interested and I found a graffiti artist known as “Alone”. He signs his work as A1one (Wikipedia) as he was the only person doing graffiti on Iran’s walls- introducing the possibilities.
He started his work about 10 years ago ( according to his blog: Tehran Walls ) and later on brought a group of other artists together under the name of “Kolah Studio” and expanded the art of Graffiti in Iran (Note: KOLAH in Farsi means Hat) . Although he never had any political point of view he ended up being in serious trouble with law in Iran (talking about deep issues in society - as it is the nature of Graffiti- is not in favor of the government).
Unfortunately, he had decided to leave the country for his/his family safety in order to keep his art alive ( according to his blog posts- Tehran Walls) . His methods are a mixing of Stencil, Graffiti and painting on the walls. There are some mixtures of Arabic, Farsi and English in his works.
Please check out his works along with the rest of his artist-friends at "Kolah Studio". You can see more of his works on his Flickr page.
