Chet Zar is best known for creating the art work for the band 'Tool'. Chet is also the stepson of a famous fantasy artist by the name of James Zar. Chet Zar states that his initial plan was to become a makeup artist for movies because he never thought that they would show "cool art" inside a gallery. He is known for his dark visual art as well as make-up effects and digital animation.
I am a big Tool fan but I could not recognize his name. I guess he has been designing puppets and costumes with Adam Jones for Tool videos. (The second picture you posted reminds me of characters in Schism Video.) Adam is also a very skilled SFX make-up artist.
