Rustic Steel Creations and a tribute to The Wounded Warrior - blog post week 3

Dominique Martinez (photo above with statue) created the "Hero and the Warrior" statue modeled after Special Operations Forces and was displayed at USSOCOM headquarters on March 29, 2013. The statue stands nearly 8 feet tall and weighs approximately 400 lbs. The sculpture contains two figures, "Major Stone" carrying "Pfc. Steel." 1600 hundred hours of work by creators and designers at Rustic Steel Creations. The face is forged solid steel, scarred with lines depicting the different countries fought in battle. Dominique is a welding artist in Tampa, Florida. He makes custom pieces of art from steel and iron. I must say that this piece is by far the most significant of all of his work. I have seen this in person and it took my breath away.

I wanted to share this with all of you creative people as I know you can appreciate it...the originality, sheer method of "sculpting" and most of all the cultural statement made. I am proud to be his friend. Check out the website :www.rusticsteel.com

We can all create work so unique and meaningful with a powerful message.
